Requirements 2

Option 1: Whole Building Energy Simulation (1-19 points): a) Calculate the baseline building performance rating according to Appendix G of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-20007.  b) Compare the proposed building performance rating with the baseline. C) The percentages of energy cost savings are assigned the following point totals:

New Buildings Percent= 12%+(n-1)2% (12% to48%);                   Existing Building Renovations Percent= 8%+(n-1)2% (8% to44%)     Points: n=1 to 19

To achieve points under this credit, the proposed design must: a) Comply with the mandatory provisions (Sections 5.4, 6.4, 7.4, 8.4, 9.4 and 10.4) in Standard 90.1-2007 (with errata but without addenda). b) Include all energy costs related to the building project.c) Compare the proposed and baseline building performance ratings. The default process energy cost is a quarter of the total energy cost for the baseline building. If it is less than that, documentation supporting the appropriate inputs must be included with the LEED presentation.

Process energy presumably includes, but is not limited to: a) Office and random general equipment, b) Computers, c) Elevators and escalators, d) Household appliances, e) Non-lighting power allowance devices, f) Medical equipment lighting, g) Waterfall pumps

Non-process energy presumably includes: a)Lighting, i)Interior, ii) Parking (garage and surface), b) HVAC&R systems, c) Domestic service water heating.

Both the baseline and proposed building performance ratings must have identical process loads for this credit.  A list of assumptions and supportive information for the base and proposed designs must be documented. Projects in California may use Title 24-2005, Part 6 in place of SI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2007 for Option 1.
