Greetings,

On Wednesday February 2nd, at 8:15, California Green Code Forum will initiate a very exciting speakers as well as forum for four hours. Near 200 persons will be attending and another 100 was turned away due to lack of space.

The speakers are Supervisor Campbell of County of Orange, Hadi Tabatabaee- Building Official, Dave Walls of Building Standard Commission, Doug Hensel of Department of Housing and Community Development, and I will be covering the first two hours. A short 6 minutes video (by Jeff Elmassian) will high light the needs for green California.

Second half of the session will cover panels responses to series of questions plus questions received from the floor.

    I will email my lectures to all.

    Look for Second AIA lecture in second week of December.

    Look for the County of Orange Green Forum coming up in Early January. This one is  exciting and we are hoping for very lively participation.

    Free of charge and will be directed primarily to AHJ’s. Flyer must be distributed very soon.

    We will publish the code in excel tabulated forms and all work sheets for use.

    We will have second AIA OC lecture very soon. Look for it in AIA News Bulletins.

There is absolutely mass confusion on this code. Fortunately, there are many seminars are now. I will be speaking in ASHRAE Western Section in Santa Barbara on October 12th 2010. I hope this site will reduce the pain and disseminate and assists the Green World in their path. The next class will be in October 14th, and you can enroll by email snour@absoluteco.com.     Greetings,

    Thanks for the attendees of the CalGreen 2010  seminar. It was introductory and full seminar will be full eight hours. Coming up in September.

    We will repeat the 3 hours introductory session as well for next months. The questions were dynamic and we will post most of them. Mandatory components of the CalGreen will save near 3 million metric ton of CO2 till 2020. Architects, Engineers, Contractors, and the City Authorities will get used to the concept as they did for the Energy Compliance systems (Title-24). The incentives by the Cities and Utilities will promote the tier 1 and tier 2 ratings, as well as all state , and city buildings (very likely tier 2 rated).

    Education required by all parties for smooth adoption and adaptation of this code is mandatory.

    Excerpts of the lecture will be part of this web-site. Coming Soon.

    Our first stab at the California Green Code 2010 begins with a new class on Thursday, August 5th.

    Green Building Institute of Technology, Greenerade.com, Greenuendo, EndliessNOise.com, and Absolute Consulting Engineershave partnered to bring you a new platform for discussion, dialogue, and format to review all issues of Green in all 50 States as well as the world.

    Cal Green is going to impact everybuilding built or modified in California. California with near 65 million population will impact greatly to this movement.

    LEED promotes water-use reduction through resourceful landscaping, wastewater technologies and high-efficiency plumbing design.
    A simplified landscaping plan, with drought-tolerant native plants, reduced use of sod, and high-efficiency irrigation (e.g., drip hoses) can be an attractive, cost-effective design. However, many administrators, particularly in university settings, want lush landscaping to enhance the visual impact of a high-profile building. An effective, yet more costly, irrigation strategy is a rainwater or gray-water collection system, such as a cistern.
    Water-use reductions of 20 percent or more can be achieved by installing high-efficiency plumbing fixtures, such as low-flow lavatory faucets and toilets, and waterless urinals. However, building owners must understand and comply with maintenance requirements. For those unsure about adopting these new technologies, flexibility can be incorporated into the plumbing design. Although it eliminates any cost savings from simplified plumbing requirements, supply piping can be installed in walls behind waterless urinals to enable change-out in the future if maintenance issues arise.

    •12% of U.S. potable water consumption, including 5 billion gallons a day for flushing toilets
    • 340 billion gallons of fresh water are withdrawn per day from rivers, streams, and reservoirs to support residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and recreational activities.
    • Almost 65% of water taken is discharged back to bodies of water after use.
    • Annual water deficiency for the US is 3,700 billion gallons.
    • US industries today use 36% less water than in 1950 due to reuse and Energy Policy Act of 1992 mandating water conserving plumbing.
    • Water consumption rose 6 fold in the last century – double the rate of population.
